Frequently asked questions

Can I apply for both an EV infrastructure grant and an EV chargepoint grant?

As a Landlord and property owner, you can apply for both the electric vehicle chargepoint grant and the electric vehicle infrastructure grant.

The chargepoint grant

The chargepoint grant provides £350 or up to 75% off the purchase and installation of a socket (whichever is the lower amount). Each landlord can apply for up to 200 grants for residential properties each financial year. There is a limit of 100 grants for commercial properties. The installations can be allocated to one property or across multiple properties.

The infrastructure grant

The Infrastructure grant provides up to £30,000 or 75% of the cost of installing multiple chargepoints and the related building work. The exact amount will depend on the number of parking spaces included in the work. Each infrastructure grant must apply to a different property. The grant can include wiring and infrastructure to allow for future additional chargepoint installations. In each financial year, a maximum of 30 infrastructure grants may be submitted per business.

The EV infrastructure grant for residential car parks can be used with the EV chargepoint grant for landlords for the same location but not for the same chargepoints.

Am I still eligible for the OZEV grant?

You still could be eligible for an OZEV grant. Depending on your needs, click here to see the different grants available currently as well as their criteria. The OZEV EV infrastructure and workplace chargepoint grants have an official closing date of 31st March 2024 at 11.59pm. As the Government scales back its spending plans, the scheme could be at risk of cancellation. We recommend submitting your application now because a delay could mean your business misses out on this scheme.

How long does it take to get an OZEV grant?

Every application is different, so the time for grant processing can vary. As a general guide, the grant can take up to 3 months to be approved or rejected.

If the installation is completed prior to the grant approval, some installers will include the grant discount in their final invoice. However, it’s best to get this agreed in advance, as not all installers provide this service. If your grant application is rejected, you will need to pay the installer for the full cost of the installation.
